Mustard Seeds & Mountains
Mustard Seeds & Mountains is a Christian relief and development agency based in the Appalachian region (specifically the state of West Virginia), which is often referred to as the Third World of the United States. The region suffers from chronic poverty brought about by absence of jobs and remoteness of location. This week-long summer mission trip will ignite a desire within volunteers to move from merely participating in a short-term missions trip once a year to developing a lifestyle that involves serving the poor where they live. You will be challenged to look at your life and how you invest your time, treasure and talents. By the end of the week you will plan how you can begin to reach out to the needy in your community, seeking God's guidance in how to advance the Kingdom of God where you live.
Volunteers will arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Friday. Volunteers, as a team of 5 to 7 members, will do home repair and/or help youth recreation programs or other work to help the people of this area. MSM staff will guide volunteers in experiential learning activities, reflective times, devotionals, and interaction with families of the recipients during morning devotions and evening Bible studies.
The dates and schedule for MS&M in 2010 will be announced soon. If you'd like to join or have questions, please contact Yisook Baik.
