Membership class is an informational session that provides visitors and newcomers with more information about ACC and the United Methodist Church. At the end of the session there is also a short ceremony for anyone who would like to become an official member of ACC, although there is no obligation to do so.
What It Means To Be a Member of ACC
Becoming a member of ACC involves making a public promise, or covenant, to live according to the Word of God and to support the work and life of the congregation. While every believer is already a part of the Church (the Spiritual Body of Christ), it is by a covenant that you also become part of ACC as an organization.
The privileges are the same for both members and visitors of ACC, but membership is for those who are ready and willing to enter into a deeper commitment. As a member, there is a higher level of accountability and relationship with the church.
Church membership is not like membership in any other social club or community group. Unlike the traditional paradigm where the organization exists to serve its members, ACC is an organization whose membership seeks to serve others. As such, we take very seriously our responsibility and commitment to share God's love with those both inside and outside of the church.
